Ponygon's real name is Schneider that no one can understand because he doesn't talk unlike his parents. When he was little he and his mother watch as his father carried his rider around town. Schneider didn't like the idea of being a riding horse so he scared anyone off even if they were his friend. Except for Zatch who tried to be his friend. Then one day Schneider's father was bitten by a poisonous snake and Schneider had to go to town to get medicine but the only problem was that he couldnt speak. Zatch arrived in time and agreed to help Schneider and the two work together to save Schneider's father. Since then the two were friends.
Sunbeam was a mechanic that studdied to help other countries with his job.
It was Dr. Riddles that united them by arranging Sunbeam to meet Ponygon where he normally look for his human partner, as the rest was faith. The two may have started late but they already grew a bond between each other that normally takes months. Ponygon originally didn't want to fight, but after spending time with Zatch and watch his friends fight as he stayed there and watch, that Schneider went through the struggle through going through his fear or facing it and help his friends. In the end Ponygon decided to battle with his friends.
Ponygon had to endure intense wilderness training in Africa to mature his power by releasing his inner survival instinct most animals have in the wilderness.
Ponygon's book was burned by Sunbeam's choice after Ponygon's body reached its limit after using his Shin level spell twice to carry everything, and unless Ponygon returns back to the mamodo world he would die. Ponygon returned through Zatch's gold spellbook to give Zatch his Shin Level spell to beat Clear Note.

Sudoruk: (Body Enhancement) Ponygon gains silver armor and his speed is increased.
Go Sudoruk: (Body Enhancement) Ponygon gains gold and red armor with a horn and his speed and strength is enhanced.
Diomuru Sudoruk: (Body Enhancement/Assist/Attack) Ponygon gains armor through flames that not only enhanced his speed but, Ponygon can manipulate the flames after training.
Shin Sudoruk: (Shin Level Body Enhancement) Ponygon doubles in size with more armor that he can change forms for, with rockets in the end for flight. However the longer Ponygon use it, and the number of times Ponygon use the spell, the spell does damage to his body. (Manga)
